Jan. 28th, 2017 11:44 amMoana's only been in Darrow a handful of weeks and she's having a hard time adjusting. The cold, for one, is not something she's used to. On the island and on the sea of course the temperature had dropped at night but it had never been something that a thin blanket or a shawl couldn't fix. Here, she constantly feels like she's fighting to catch her breath outside just because of the chill.
She's determined to adapt, though, because while everything might be different her stubbornness hasn't changed.
Heihei and Pua are safe in the warmth of the apartment as she heads out, bundled up, ready to buy some food at the place they call the grocery store. She's still not used to the paper and metal in her hand that they call money, only knows that it's her key to survival in the same way as the coat wrapped around her.
A bag full of fruit and vegetables for her and her companions bought, Moana makes her way back toward her new home, trying to stuff her change into her pockets when it falls on the ground, going everywhere.
"Oh, no."

Moana's still not accustomed to Darrow. She's not sure she'll ever be. It's strange to sleep in enormous buildings with small windows instead of huts where she could see and feel everything going on outside her.
Still, this is where the ocean brought her, so she has to trust it. Or at least try to.
At least she has Heihei and Pua with her, although she has to keep them in secret. Someone had told her that. Roosters and pigs aren't allowed in the enormous buildings, here. There's a thing called a TV that she can turn on so nobody hears them but she thinks the man who calls himself a landlord (what does he know about ruling the land?) is suspicious.
So she smiles at him a lot and sometimes pretends she can't quite understand him.
Today is warmer (though she still needs heavier clothes than she's ever needed before) and so she takes Heihei and Pua out onto the beach, onto the sand. Pua runs about and Heihei pecks at nothingness, and Moana lets herself smile.
